From time to time TWL will publish condensed versions of certain articles submitted to the Editor. In this way a greater number of discussions and investigations will be presented to readers of the journal than would otherwise be possible.

U. Selong Edem

The extent of computerization in Nigerian University libraries was examined via a survey and personal observations. Of 31 libraries in the sample, 18 returned usable questionnaires. Then the researcher visited the 18 libraries to confirm the data received and to look more closely at their situations. These were the universities (in order by date of establishment, with the number of librarians): Ibadan (1948; 16), Nigeria (1960; 20), Ahmadu Bello (1962; 32), Lagos (1962; 18), Obafemi Awolowo (1962; 17), Benin (1970; 10), Jos (1972; 16), Calabar (1973; 14), Port Harcourt (1976; 12), Agriculture (1981; 4), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (1981; 8), Federal University of Technology, Owerri (1980; 7), Federal University of Technology, Minna (1984; 8), Edo State (1982; 13), Lagos State (1984; 7), Ogun State (1983; 7), Ondo State (1983; 8), Ladoke Akintola (1989; 4).
